Workaround Guide:
AntiWPA Workaround - Clean Install
QUOTE

1. Go to your BIOS, set the year to 2099.
2. Disconnect Internet (physically pull out your LAN cable if you will )
3. Install Vista. DO NOT enter any key while installing, and select the Ultimate
edition.
4. Once vista boots up for the first time, set the year back to 2006 (from
within Vista). Remember, internet should still be disconnected.
5. Reboot, and check date in BIOS to make sure its 2006.

7. Unzip the patch and run the exe.
8. Click on test. It should say 4 timers stopped.
9. Click on the install button.
10. Reboot.
11. Connect Internet
12. Test by typing "slmgr -dlv" in the command prompt (in administrator mode),
and note the minutes.
13. After about an hour of use, reboot and redo step 12. The minutes should
remain same!
14. Enjoy!

AntiWPA Workaround - Already Installed

just re-arm in 2099.

Steps:

KMS Activation

KMS method to activate your Vista !! (Business/Enterprise editions only)
Step 01:
Install Vista FINAL RELEASE with
Choose "Business edition" ONLY not others !!
Step 02:
When Windows setup completed and Internet access setup completed.
Open Command Prompt under "Administrator Mode",
That is, right click the Command Prompt icon, select "run as admin"
Activate your Business Vista against vbs.net.cn
(This is a private KMS server for Volume License 2.0a activiation).
Now in command prompt (Admin mode)
type -
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -skms vbs.net.cn
cscript C:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ato
Activate completed !!
Now you may wish to check the activation status
type -
cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -dlv

KMS Volume License activate requires re-activate every 180 days.
The reactive should be done automatically.
Only works for Business Vista and Enterprise Vista, not other editions!!
P.S Update you don't have to input VLK serial! Works without it too!

How to Setup Vmware Guide

Needed: KMS VMware image, KMS workstation 5.5 and router(I'm not sure if you
need the router)

first open "virtual network editor" that comes with the vmware workstation 5.5.

Click the "host virtual network mapping" tab.

for the "VMnet0" drop down box, choose your physical network card that's in your
computer, which is also connected to your router.

Apply the changes.

Open the vmware player and open the image.

In the vmware player where there is a drop down box that states "ethernet",
choose "bridged". I'm guessing it means it connects the virtual nic card to your
physical nic card.

Once the image is loaded and you're in KMS vista, disable the vista firewall.

In the KMS vista check the IP by going to cmd and typing "ipconfig", the IP
should be assigned by your router like it does for your real vista.

Go into your router and forwarded all ports to the vmware image IP.

Append:
Also to make it that the server works privately and not publicly. All you have
to do is skip the first 4 lines and the last line in the steps, and set the
ethernet drop down to NAT and not bridged.

and voila, it works. You should now be able to activate vista by connecting to
your real IP. Which means others can do the same.

How to setup KMS Server Guide

Initially, how do I set this image up?

1) Mount the image with VMware Workstation 5.5.3/Server/Player and power it on
2) See if some hardware differences require a reboot (usually the CPU)
3) Configure the VMware virtual network adaptor (NAT/Bridged), and eventually
reboot again
4) Take note of the virtual machine IP address using ipconfig
5) Disable the firewall in the virtual machine (its an internal activation
server now)
6) Open up an elevated command prompt on the host computer
7) Type slmgr -skms IP (IP is the KMS address you noted) and wait for
confirmation
8) Type slmgr -ato to activate, and once again wait for confirmation

If everything went fine, use slmgr -dlv to display your licence/activation
information

Can I set the server to start at the exact date/time whenever I power the image
up?

If you want the VMware image to boot up with the same date and time whenever you
power the KMS server up, add this line to the Windows Vista (experimental).vmx
file rtc.startTime = "1164286430". This is just the number of seconds that have
passed from Jan 1 1970. So whenever the image is powered on, it boots to Nov 23
2006 10.55PM. I chose this date/time format as it is the same as the original
KMS image you download.

What happens if the KMS server catches on to the timestamp differences between
the client and the server?

When the virtual machine is powered off, you will see a list of devices in
VMware Workstation for the KMS server. Now, what we assume is that the N-count
declines and is recorded and after 30 days becomes useless, so we'll be forced
to remount the original image again. However, under Devices, scroll down to
'Hard Disk (SCSI0:0)' and double click it. You'll be presented with your Disk
File, now click Advanced and we have more options. Enable 'Independent' and then
enable 'Nonpersistent'.

As you will see Nonpersistent means that any changes to the disk are discarded
when you power off. So in theory every time we boot the KMS up, it'll be as
original as the day we got it..
Basically, configure the image to the way you want it, with the firewall and
ethernet changes, etc.. And then enable Nonpersistant so any changes thereafter
don't take effect..

Edit: For those that dont have VMware Workstation installed, add this line to
your .vmx file scsi0:0.mode = "independent-nonpersistent"
You may also need to specify the disk image REDO file (so nothing is written to
your image) in your config. There is already an entry in your .vmx file for
scsi0:0.redo. Change its value to ".\Windows Vista
(experimental).vmdk.REDO_ao2724"

The 'rtc.startTime' combats the date, and 'Nonpersistant' combats file changes..

Business KMS Activation For Dummies

1. Get yourself copies of Vista MSDN or Vista Enterprise Edition. I used this
copy of Windows Vista
"en_windows_vista_x86_dvd_X12-34293.iso" .

2. Get yourself copy of the VMware KMS server image.

3. Get yourself copies of WinRAR 3.61 or later and VMWare Workstation 5.5.3-
34685 or later.
Now disconnect your PC from the internet at all and do the following. Never ever
connect to the internet until I say so in the following .

4. Install Vista Business Edition on a clean formatted Hard Disk. Make sure it
is Business Edition and NOT Business N Edition. Business N Edition will NOT
work.

5. Install WinRAR on the clean Vista Business Installation.

6.Install VMWare Workstation. A popup will most probably come up telling you to
stop the installation or continue anyway. Select continue anyway to complete the
installation of VMWare workstation.

7.If VMWare didnt already make a folder in you My Documents folder, make a
folder in it called "My Virtual Machines".

8. Extract the content of the KMS server image to the "My Virtual Machines"
Folder.

9. Go to Start Control Panel. Switch to Classic View from the left Pane. Click
on "Folder Options" icon.Switch to View Tab. And uncheck the tick sign from
"Hide Extensions for known file types". Click on OK.

10.You are still in the Windows Control Panel. Click on "Windows Firewall"
Icon.On the right side of the pane click on "Turn Windows Firewall on or off".
Windows will ask for your permission to continue. Select "Continue" and in the
next dialog box, select "Off(not recommended)" and select "OK". If stupid
Windows comes up with a security alert at the bottom right task bar, just close
it. No need to worry for firewall now as you are not at all connected to the
internet.

11. Close the control Panel now.

12. Now move to the "My Virtual Machines" Folder. Inside that folder you will
most probably see a "Vista_KMS" folder, move inside it.

13. Right click on "Windows Vista (experimental).vmx" file and open it with
Windows Notepad. Type the following in it right at the very top and save the
file.

tools.synchronize.continue=FALSE
tools.synchronize.restore=FALSE
tools.synchronize.resume.disk=FALSE
tools.synchronize.shrink=FALSE
rtc.startTime = "1164286430"

scsi0:0.mode = "independent-nonpersistent"

Then there is already an entry like this in your .vmx file

scsi0:0.redo =" "

Change it to
scsi0:0.redo = ".\Windows Vista (experimental).vmdk.REDO_ao2724"

14. Launch VMWare Wokstation by launching it from the desktop icon.Click on
"Open Existing VM or Team" and navigate to the "My Virtual Machines\Vista_KMS"
folder and select ""Windows Vista (experimental).vmx" file".

15. Now click on "Edit Virtual Machine Settings" from the right side pane in
VMWare Workstation.Select Ethernet. And then set it to "NAT:Used to share the
Host's IP address". Select OK.

16. Now Start the virtual Machine. The Virtual Machine mostprobably show up a
start up error because you are running this on fresh installed VISTA and it
cannot find your sound card drivers of real PC. Just select ok to ignore the
sound card error if it shows any. The Virtual Machine most probably will need a
reboot to adjust to your Real PC processor. Also the virual machine will ask you
to "Set Network Location" from 3 options "Home" or "Work" or "Public Location".
Choose "Home". Reboot your virtual PC.

17.In the virtual Machine go to "Start --> Control Panel". Double click on
"Windows Firewall" Icon and turn the firewall of the Virtual Machine off. Come
out of the firewall settings and close the control panel off.

18.In the virtual Machine now type "cmd" in the run box to get the DOS command
prompt runing.

19. Type the following in the command prompt. And then note down the "IPv4"
adress it is showing inside the command prompt.

ipconfig

20. Now in your Real Vista machine click on Start Button, All Programs,
Accessories folder and then right click on the command prompt and select "Run as
administrator".

21. You are inside your Real Vista PC Command prompt now. Type in

ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IPv4 address of your virtual machine that you noted
down in step 19. Ping should be able to reach that virtual machine ID and report
back 0% packet loss.

22. You are still inside your Real Vista PC Command prompt . Now type in

cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -skms xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IPv4 address of your virtual machine

You will get the message such as
"Key management service machine name set to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx sucessfully" where
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IPv4 address of your virtual machine

23. You are still inside your REAL Vista Command prompt now. Type in

cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ato

Wait for about 30 seconds and bite your nail. Finally a message will be
displayed
"Product activated successfully"

24.You are still inside your REAL Vista Command prompt now. Type in the
following to check the activation status of your Real Vista machine now.

cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -dlv

25.Time to wind everything up now. Exit the Real machine command promt by typing
in "exit" in it. Exit the Virtual machine command prompt by typing in "exit" in
it. Shut down the Virtual Machine by select "Start --> Shutdown" in the virtual
machine desktop screen. Shut Down VMWare Workstation.

26. Reboot your Real Machine.

27. Now you can load other device drivers for your real pc and connect to the
net too smile.gif .

28. Install a very powerful software firewall and make sure that Windows can NOT
check for updates and otherwise inform Microsoft of your machine activation
status. Dont even think of updating your Vista installation in your real PC.
