Raccoon v0.8.0 S60v2 SymbianOS - Mobile Web Server!




Mobile Web Server, also known as Raccoon, consists of a port of the Apache web server to the S60 smartphone platform, and a connectivity solution that provides a mobile phone with a global URL and with HTTP access to it. That is, you can now host a globally accessible website on your mobile phone. Cool, eh?

The software is open source under the Apache 2 license.

RACCOON
=======
Raccoon consists of two parts: a Symbian port of the Apache httpd web
server and a "connector" that together with a gateway provides a
mobile phone with a global name in the operator networks of today.

In short, you can now host a website on your mobile phone that is
accessible from any web browser on the Internet.

NOTE: 1) The software is a research prototype, so do not use the
system unless you can accept occasional crashes or other
glitches.
2) The GPRS/3G cost for browsing to the website on your phone
is payed by you, not by the one browsing.
3) Once you have installed the software and are online, the
website on your mobile phone is accessible by anyone (who
knows your URL).

Changes with Raccoon (phone software) 0.8.0

*) Access point to be used can now be specified in the settings.

*) HTTPD termination detected and handled appropriately.

*) Now built as one single SIS containing numerous files, instead
of one compound SIS containing several independent SIS files.

*) Some minor steps taken to allow the base-system to be built
also for non-S60 platforms
*) Dynamically loadable Apache modules supported on S60v3 when
platform is WINSCW or ARMV5.

*) Python for S60 version 1.3.15 taken into use.

*) Default log level changed to 'error'.


Tested on Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6681. Should work on other S60v2 phones too.
